For those who are graduating this year, there is one more semester left before graduation and entering the workforce (unless youve opted for Grad School). Congratulations to those of you who planned ahead, participated in an Intern or Co-Op Program and already have a job lined up. Congratulations as well to those of you who have a job lined up after graduation as a result of Career Fairs, focused job search or any other method that has worked. For those that must still find a job after graduation, there is still plenty of time to put a plan in motion (if you havent already done so). Ive listed a few prior posts that were dedicated to College Students and Grads, its worth taking another look. Have you visited your College Career Office? Looking for Entry Level Jobs? Recently Graduated? Get a Passing Grade in Job Search Recent Grads Taking Aim for Targeted Job Search The basic plan hasnt changed: Utilize you College Career Office (tons of resources) Participate in College Career Fairs (your Colleges or others) Build and leverage your Network (friends, family, LinkedIn, etc.) Prepare your marketing materials (Resume, Cover Letters, interview questions) Prepare your marketing plan (companies, recruiters, job boards, etc.) Ive listed and reviewed a few company career sites that focus on College students and recent Grads: Walt Disneys Student Programs Disney has four excellent programs that are geared to students. They are: Disney College Program, Disney Professional Internships, Disney CareerStart Program and Disney ImagiNations. Each program is fairly extensive and is certainly worth a look. PG PG has a special College Recruiting Program. They have an Intern/Co-op, free online courses, a program called Successway which is a Co-op program targeted for administrative and technical staff and an extensive US College recruiting program (click here). There is also a link for you to apply directly to PG in the event your school is not on their recruiting list. Office Depot The office supply company has a very good College Recruiting site. You can select from Corporate Internship Opportunities, Entry Level Opportunities, College/University Partnerships and much more. They offer a broad range of career choices, from Marketing and Advertising to e-commerce. Raytheon Raytheons college recruitment site is jam packed with information and resources. Divided into three main topics Real Business (culture, ethics, diversity and business lines), Real Opportunities (finding a job, campus recruiting events, careers, etc.) and Real Life (Internships and Co-ops, Intern Profiles and people).
